Expansion 2.0

I've been working on a body of work for a few weeks now and after producing what I thought was good work I wanted to see what I could do to it to make it better. For the vegetables I knew I wanted to reshoot after I shot my fruits with the 100mm macro lens. Thus have revisions/edits/reshoots for the vegetables was a given. The feedback I got for my fruit images were that some were a bit darker and that my color stripes may not be working as well as I thought they were. Since the images (one of the outside and one of the inside) are supposed to be seen side by side the color stripes were cutting the images off from one another abruptly.

I present my new additions to my project. I give you 2.0

Dariy of an Assistant: Entry Number One

Last Friday I was able to spend the day assisting my good friend and fellow photographer, Brad York. Brad is building his portfolio and was able to contact two local businesses in the Charlotte area and go in. Here are some behind the scene images shot with my cellphone.

My second installment of my project. This time I decided to see what a 100mm lens would do. I like the results better than using my kit lens that I had used for the first set of images.

Expansion: fruit tunes

Just a little sneak peak at what I was photographing this past weekend.

A few months ago one of my teachers made the entire class enter the Charlotte Creative Loafing Art Box Competition. We got to design and create a concept of what one of their paper boxes would look like. After a couple of weeks I heard that I was picked as one of the final five winners. Last week we, the winners actually got to see our work on a real life box!

Here are the winners, Taylor Chandler, Rod Burch, Tiffany Dyer, Sonny Benton and Breanna Dobbins.
If you want to go see them and are in the Charlotte are they will be in the MoNA gallery all of August. Then the Chop Shop in September followed by Providence Gallery in October.

a farewell of sorts

The entire time I've been in Charlotte I've lived at one place. A lovely 70's ranch style house in the university area. It even came with it's own 70's yellow paint on the outside and a stove top that wasn't connected to the rest of the oven (the oven was in the wall off the floor). After almost two years it was time to say goodbye to 9409.
